Escape to the country?
Looking for a quiet, rural village with no visitors? Then stop reading now. If you are after a beautiful pub, in a fabulous location with plenty of passing trade then read on…
Many people have a dream to escape the drudge of city living but find the countryside a little too quiet for comfort. The Plough at Holford offers the best of both worlds. Set in the Quantock Hills, one of the south wests’ prestigious Areas of Natural Beauty, the pub is just a couple of miles from the stunning Somerset coastline. Situated directly on the A39, there is ample passing trade all year around and the Plough is a firm favourite with the locals.
The pub is in excellent order throughout its’ three trading areas which consist of a locals bar, a dining area and a recently added orangery that seats 35 people. The pub is decorated tastefully throughout and comprises a mixture of loose and fixed seating that can be re-arranged should the new publican wish. The décor creates a warm and cosy atmosphere throughout, with exposed beams, wooden seating and an open fireplace in the diner. There is a well-equipped commercial kitchen that is situated just behind the main bar servery. Throughout the pub there is old photos and interesting features that date back to the pubs’ late history, from around 1555.
To the rear of the property is a stunning courtyard style garden that the current publicans have worked tirelessly to create and is a wonderful suntrap during the summer season.
On the opposite side of the lane, there is a large car park that can hold approximately 25 vehicles.
